So it’s cold as hell. alright, it can’t be cold as hell but it’s cold as hell if it were to be the opposite of hot.
This poster is super winter- the blue, hair like overlay and the super sleek type makes this real nice, like, real nice…
The band PARTICLE, are proving a little elusive, help? good art gives atleast a 75% chance they are going to be rad!
I went to see Johnny Foreigner last night at KCLSU, KCLSU has cheap-ish beer. Happy. Anyway, after waking late for work, due to said beer, I must add that TALONS (Twitter) BSM fiends that they are, were totally mindblowing! reminded me of Mogwai, not as loud, a little, not Mogwai-Lite by any stretch of the imagination but the drummer was sort of more Converge influenced… I liked it, a lot.
Go see, buy records! Back to product photography and catalogues for me today…
I haven’t even reached double figures and I’m already veering off into non-poster territory, well, to tell you the truth, there ain’t nothing out there today grabbing my attention. Well apart from this that plonked on my doormat yesterday, but it’s not a poster, but i’ll write about it anyway…
The rather ace 7″ from Bristol three-piece CAVES (FB) – now, review it I wont’ I will merely comment on the ace screen printed artwork, the black and white, the thought and overall lush-ness of it all… The tunes are ace as well! BUY IT HERE!
The record is out on Specialist Subject Records who have sold out of the limited blue ones… Tell you what, whilst you’re there, get hold of the ALGERNON CADAWALLADER – FUN 7″ too… 2 nifty little ‘zines, 4 tracks on wax and a CD with an extra two too!
Cheers for continually reading, if you are, the graph that shows how many people look is steadily rising!
More poster work tomorrow… if there’s any good ‘uns!
This is ace. As the post insinuates… really loving hand drawn artwork at the moment, it’s by a dude called Ben Chalpek (twitter) and for possibly one of the most impressive bands of last year, Girls, this was what I wanted their artwork to look like when I heard their Elvis Costello inspired tunes and dreamy affairs!
I believe there are prints available for the dude’s etsy shop so go buy. or atleast look and enjoy…
Had a fun weekend, FINALLY managed to go record shopping, finding some good artwork equally good LP’s by CRASH-NORMAL and a band from Sheffield called SILVERFISH… who I am yet to research!
This poster, by Casey Demming is incredible, so is his other work… heading right back to minimalism the cut and paste effect brings huge depth to the work…
Immediately when I saw it I thought of Gepeto Silver, Bear Gami (who REALLY need to get a website) and lastly John Baldessari who’s exhibition I missed recently at the tate, opting for the rather awesome Pop Life exhibition instead…where I discovered Kippenberger, an awesome punk rock inspired poster maker and artist… more research and I may even write a post about him!
Anyway, I’m about to go check out the bands he works with and for… today is definately going to be on of THOSE days, I left my flask at work last night so the pot of lovely hot fresh coffee I brewed this morning had to remain rather firmly at home. A waste it is… Nescafe sucks!
This is a poster for Chuck Ragan, designed by the awesome Jamie from GOT VITAMIN C
His illustrations are awesome, check out the new work for the upcoming tour between The Arteries and Bangers… sucks there ain’t no london date as a) it means i miss a couple of the best punk bands in the UK right now and b) I miss out on getting one of these bad boys!
SURFER BLOOD are brilliant… there’s a bunch of hype but they are worthy. very worthy.
I’m going to see these guys tonight so it seems super apt that they are the sickest poster of the morning, think the Shins if they dug Japandroids or something…
It’s done by Iron Forge Press and lots totally slick and psychadelic.
